Should Steroid Use Be Accepted in Sports?

Steroids should be aloud in sports. Players in every sport use steroids and do not get caught. some of the best players are on them and no one will ever know. If you legalize steroids in sports you will have less problems and everyone will be at the same playing field if they decide to take them. There are pros and cons to taking them.

Pro:
Norman Fost, MD, MPH, Professor and Director of the Medical Ethics Program at the University of Wisconsin
  • He said there are worse and more dangerous things than playing sports. He also said if they restrict and even criminalize behaviors just because they have health risks. And steroids are so low on the list of drugs or diets that cause serious harm I don’t understand why we would start there.
Jennifer Sey, former US national champion gymnast, wrote the following information in an Aug. 10, 2008 Salon.com article titled "Let 'Em Eat Steroids":
  • She states that when athletes are at the highest level all they care about is winning. "I don't blame the athletes like Marion Jones for juicing their performance with a little extra oomph. She's caught up in her sport; she needs that little somethin' somethin' to maintain her edge. Everyone else is doing it. If you shot me up with whatever she had, I wouldn't be the fastest woman alive. It was still her out there on that track. " She also states that if athletes are willing to risk thee health let them do it.

Athletes Against Steroids, an outreach and educational organization dedicated to eradicating steroids in sports, wrote the following information on its website

  • Young athletes everywhere are turning to performance enhancement drugs – playing steroid roulette with their lives in hopes of making it into the 'big leagues.' They’re falling for the big lie that these drugs are safe and okay to use. steroids are KILLERS…DESTROYERS…LIFE WRECKERS!...[S]ome people contend that there is very little evidence that steroids actually cause death

Goverment should not ban betting on college sports

My article is about how the Government should not ban betting on college sports. I agree with this because it is legal to do it and it brings in allot of excitement to the games. It also could bring money for the college because it will bring the fans to the games. Another reason they should not ban it is because it would cause allot of illegal gambling more than there already is. Some states is An estimated 40 million Americans currently wager $6 billion illegally every weekend during the entire 20-week college and pro football season alone. The top state that wants this is Nevada. Currently, approximately 99 percent of all sports gambling takes place illegally outside of Nevada.  Gambling and betting is a widely accepted form of recreation in this country and has been an integral part of our history. When our founding fathers needed money to finance the American Revolution, they held a lottery. Today, 47 states permit lotteries, horse and dog racing, commercial and Indian casinos, and/or video poker. Only Hawaii, Utah, and Tennessee have no form of legalized gambling. Since our culture sends the message that gambling is mainstream recreation, it will only make matters worse to deal with illegal sports gambling by making it illegal in Nevada, the one state where these activities are legal and closely monitored.

This Video is not just about college sports but all sports betting. This is a good video to show how much people could benefit from sports betting.
